I WANT MORE OF YOU

Updated: Feb 10, 2021

When our daughter was an itty bitty with few words, she had enough vocabulary to state with clarity and determination exactly what she wanted. She'd look up with those big brown eyes and say "I want more." Over and over, I want more, I want more.

She didn't hold back with asking for what she wanted. She knew she could approach her parents with a request that we would lovingly accept or deny, knowing what was best for her.

I'm curious what might happen in our faith if we approached God with the same heart, the same conviction, the same determination and intent. What if we asked God for more of God's presence? More of God's nearness, guidance and wisdom. How might it cultivate our hearts and tune our lives toward the voice of God?

I’m asking God for one thing, only one thing: To live with him in his house my whole life long. I’ll contemplate his beauty; I’ll study at his feet.

That’s the only quiet, secure place in a noisy world, The perfect getaway, far from the buzz of traffic. Psalm 27:4-5 (MSG)

I love this passage so much. David asks God for one thing. To be near and dwell with God. I wonder what today might bring if we humbly approach our Creator with open hands and a quiet heart, with one ask in mind... "I want more of You, God."

This worship song by United Pursuit has been a meaningful prayer song in my life over the past few years. Take a listen. Let it be a simple start to the rest of your day.
